McDaniel College Students Performed in "Hand to God"
Students performed in the college's production of the play "Hand to God" by Robert Askins. Performances were September 30-October 2 in WMC Alumni Hall at McDaniel College. "Hand to God" is an irreverent, occasionally shocking, and perpetually hysterical romp that explores ideas of faith, morality, and human nature. Tad Janes, artistic director of the Maryland Ensemble Theatre in Frederick, Md., was the guest director for the production. Assistant professor Shana Joslyn was the scene, light and sound designer and adjunct lecturer Melissa Gilbert was the costume and puppet designer. Stage Manager was senior Nicholle D'Anna, an English-theatre arts dual major from Essex, Md.

McDaniel College students were inducted into the Alpha Lambda Delta national honor society on Sept. 26. Alpha Lambda Delta (First Year Seminar) recognizes students who completed their first year at McDaniel with a 3.7 grade point average (GPA) or higher.

McDaniel College Junior Scott Seburn of Greencastle Awarded Summer Intern Fellowship
Scott Seburn, a junior with a double major in philosophy and history, was awarded a Summer Intern Fellowship from McDaniel College. He spent his summer as the summer living history and historic gardener intern at the Conococheague Institute in Mercersburg, Pennsylvania. This hands-on regional learning center is located within a 30-acre site that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

McDaniel College students receive Army ROTC Scholarship
McDaniel College students have earned Army ROTC Scholarships. Scholarships totaling nearly $2.3 million were awarded to the Green Terror Battalion. The scholarship, which is awarded based on scholastic, athletic and leadership attributes, covers full tuition, room and board, and fees, plus additional funds for books, as well as a monthly living stipend. The student will be commissioned as a Second Lieutenant and will incur a service commitment to be served on active duty, in the Army Reserve, or National Guard upon graduating from McDaniel.

Molly Sherman, a senior with a double major in economics and environmental studies with a specialization in biology, was awarded a Summer Intern Fellowship from McDaniel College. She spent her summer working at MAGIC (Mid-Atlantic Gigabit Innovation Collaboratory) in Westminster, Md., where she had the opportunity to lead and conduct research, as well as assist with writing and photography. She is continuing this research this fall.

Mark Flores, a senior with a kinesiology-chemistry dual major, was awarded a Summer Intern Fellowship from McDaniel College. He spent his summer as a virtual research assistant with the Science and Mathematics Educational Research Collaborative at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), where he was involved in constructing and conducting focus groups, as well as developing assessment tools to measure student retention.
