McDaniel College Students Participated in Summer 2025 Internships
McDaniel College students participated in summer 2025 internships. Internships and other experiential learning opportunities, such as study abroad, student-faculty research, and independent study, are key elements of the "My Experience" component of the college's signature McDaniel Commitment. The McDaniel Commitment is supported by the Center for Experience and Opportunity, McDaniel's one-stop shop that focuses on experiential learning and career development.

McDaniel College Theatre kicks off 2025-26 academic year with performance featuring McDaniel students
McDaniel students perform in McDaniel College Theatre's opening production for the 2025-26 academic year. Performances are Thursday, Oct. 2-Saturday, Oct. 4, at 7:30 p.m. in WMC Alumni Hall at McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, Maryland. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students, seniors (over 60), active military members and veterans, as well as those with a McDaniel College ID. For ticket information, call 410-857-2448.

McDaniel College Students Receive Army ROTC Scholarships
McDaniel College students earned Army ROTC Scholarships. The scholarship, which is awarded based on scholastic, athletic, and leadership attributes, covers full tuition, room and board, and fees, plus additional funds for books, as well as a monthly living stipend. The students will be commissioned as second lieutenants and will be required to serve on active duty in the Army Reserve or National Guard upon graduating from McDaniel.

Recent McDaniel College graduate Lil Overcash to Continue Basketball Career Overseas in the UK
Former McDaniel College women's basketball player Lil Overcash has partnered with Play Overseas to continue her playing career in the UK while she earns a master's degree. Overcash will be attending the University of Worcester in Worcester, England, and will play for the Wolves' women's basketball team that competes nationally against other Universities as part of the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Leagues & Championships. In addition, she will also help coach the women's semi-pro team that competes in Midlands 1A and the Women's National Basketball League (WNBL) Division 1.

Select McDaniel College alumni who majored in Elementary Education or minored in PreK-12 or Secondary Education were named Teachers of Promise by the Maryland State Department of Education. Nominations were based on GPA, service, leadership, and their performance during their student teaching semester. Teachers of Promise were matched with a veteran teacher to mentor and guide them through their transition from college to the classroom.

The Argonaut Award for the highest cumulative GPA during their entire completed courses of study was given to five undergraduates: Rebekah Faith Garrett of Pasadena, Maryland, Jolie A. Gray of Crownsville, Maryland, Jacqueline E. Kuzma of Stafford, Virginia, Elana Kara Petrone of Colonial Heights, Virginia, and Olivia Kathleen Shores of Frederick, Maryland.

Students Graduate from McDaniel College and Receive The Argonaut Award, as well as Commission as Second Lieutenants
Five undergraduate students earned The Argonaut Award for the highest cumulative GPA during their entire completed courses of study, including: Jolie A. Gray of Crownsville, Maryland, who graduates summa cum laude with departmental honors in Business Administration and a minor in Sociology. A member of the Green Terror Battalion, Gray received a commission as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army during McDaniel's May 22 Commissioning Ceremony and was recognized with the Lieutenant General (R) Otto Guenther Leadership Award, which annually goes to the commissioning cadet who best exemplifies the character, morals, leadership, and lifelong dedication, both to the U.S. Army and to their alma mater. She also received The Maria Leonard Senior Book Award at the May 22 Senior Investiture and Honors Convocation. She will serve in the U.S. Army Reserve as a Military Intelligence Officer, assigned to the 741st Military Intelligence Battalion at Fort Meade, Maryland. Elana Kara Petrone of Colonial Heights, Virginia, who graduates summa cum laude with departmental honors in English. A College Scholar and member of Phi Beta Kappa, Petrone was a member of the Green Terror Battalion and commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army during McDaniel's May 22 Commissioning Ceremony. Petrone also received The Makosky Award for Excellence in English at the May 22 Senior Investiture and Honors Convocation. Petrone, a three-year Advanced Designee Scholarship cadet, will serve in an active-duty position as an Adjutant General Officer after completing the Adjutant General Basic Officer Leader Course in Fort Jackson, South Carolina.
