McDaniel College Students Perform in Gospel Choir Concert
The McDaniel College Gospel Choir performs on Sunday, Dec. 7, at 3 p.m. in WMC Alumni Hall at McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, Maryland. Directed by Senior Adjunct Lecturer Shelley Ensor and accompanied by Alice Dorsey, the Gospel Choir performs traditional and contemporary gospel music along with some holiday favorites.

Select McDaniel College Students Named to the Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society
Select McDaniel College students were named to the Omicron Delta Kappa national leadership honor society. Omicron Delta Kappa, a national leadership honor society, was installed at the college in 1963. Membership in the society is a high honor, for it carries with it the responsibility of encouraging students in leadership and community service. Juniors and seniors who stand in the upper 35% of their classes are eligible and selected on the basis of exceptional leadership in various aspects of campus life.

On Thursday, Nov. 20, at 7 p.m., in Baker Memorial Chapel, students in McDaniel College's Student African Drum Ensembles perform, under the direction of Senior Adjunct Lecturer Pape Demba "Paco" Samb. The program features the traditional African songs "Lambaa," "Kuku," "Mengani," and "Macaru."

Adjunct lecturer Brian Frazier directs Jazz Night on Thursday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m., in WMC Alumni Hall. The concert features diverse styles of jazz, including classic big band swing, bebop, Latin, funk, and rock and roll. McDaniel College Students Receive Army ROTC Scholarships
McDaniel College students earned Army ROTC Scholarships. The scholarship, which is awarded based on scholastic, athletic, and leadership attributes, covers full tuition, room and board, and fees, plus additional funds for books, as well as a monthly living stipend. The students will be commissioned as second lieutenants and will be required to serve on active duty in the Army Reserve or National Guard upon graduating from McDaniel.

Recent McDaniel College graduate Lil Overcash to Continue Basketball Career Overseas in the UK
Former McDaniel College women's basketball player Lil Overcash has partnered with Play Overseas to continue her playing career in the UK while she earns a master's degree. Overcash will be attending the University of Worcester in Worcester, England, and will play for the Wolves' women's basketball team that competes nationally against other Universities as part of the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Leagues & Championships. In addition, she will also help coach the women's semi-pro team that competes in Midlands 1A and the Women's National Basketball League (WNBL) Division 1.

McDaniel College Alumni named Teachers of Promise
Select McDaniel College alumni who majored in Elementary Education or minored in PreK-12 or Secondary Education were named Teachers of Promise by the Maryland State Department of Education. Nominations were based on GPA, service, leadership, and their performance during their student teaching semester. Teachers of Promise were matched with a veteran teacher to mentor and guide them through their transition from college to the classroom.
