McDaniel College theatre arts students receive national nominations for their acting work during McDaniel College's Student-Directed Play Festival. Students must first compete at the regional level in January 2021 before potentially heading to the national competition at the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival in April 2021.

Two McDaniel College students presented their research at the Maryland Collegiate Honors Conference held at Harford Community College, Feb. 28-29. The theme of the conference was "Leadership in a Time of Change."

McDaniel College junior Flannery Bendel-Simso, directs Eve Ensler's iconic play "The Vagina Monologues" on Friday, Feb. 14, and Saturday, Feb. 15, 7 p.m., in WMC Alumni Hall at McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, Md. The play is in association with V-Day, a global movement to stop violence against women and girls. Tickets are $5 and will be available at the door. Faith Young, a junior at McDaniel College from Takoma Park, Md, has been awarded a $4,500 Gilman Scholarship to study abroad at McDaniel's European campus in Budapest, Hungary. She is one of 1,413 recipients from 427 colleges and universities across the United States selected to receive the prestigious U.S. Department of State's Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program.

McDaniel College students participated in study tours through a wide variety of courses during Jan Term. January Term, known as Jan Term, is a three-week session between the fall and spring semesters that allows students and faculty to explore new areas and expand their intellectual horizons with specially designed courses.

McDaniel College announces its Fall 2019 Dean's List, recognizing full-time undergraduate students for outstanding academic achievement. Highest honors are earned for a semester grade point average of 3.90 or higher, high honors for a grade point average of 3.70-3.89, and honors for a 3.50-3.69 grade point average.

McDaniel College students participated in the Model European Union 2019 Conference in Washington, D.C., November 21-23. McDaniel's delegation of nearly 10 students represented Belgium.

McDaniel College students were recognized for their winning entries in the college's "Pitch to Get Paid" contest during the fall 2019 semester. McDaniel students have the chance to win $275 by submitting two-to-four-minute videos featuring their innovative ideas for the "Pitch to Get Paid" contest.

Brianna Myung, a senior at McDaniel College from Westminster, Md., has been recognized as the Outstanding Midyear Graduate during the college's Midyear Graduates Recognition Ceremony on Dec. 7. The Outstanding Midyear Graduate award is given to a midyear graduate whose experiences at McDaniel College, inside and outside of the classroom, exemplify a commitment to the college community.

Emma McNeil, a senior at McDaniel College from Frederick, Md., has been selected as the student speaker for the college's Midyear Graduates Recognition Ceremony from Dec. 7. McNeil was among 41 students recognized at the Midyear Graduates Recognition Ceremony.

Nearly 20 McDaniel College students immersed themselves in another country through their study abroad experience during the fall 2019 semester. Over one-third of McDaniel students study abroad for academic credit in more than 50 countries.

McDaniel College senior Jade Enright was selected by Yale University professors to assist in their summer research. She was among 7 percent of some 5,000 applicants accepted into the Yale Biomed Amgen Scholars Program.

McDaniel College students perform in the Gospel Choir Concert on Sunday, Dec. 8, 3 p.m., in WMC Alumni Hall at McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, Md. Under the direction of music lecturer Shelley Ensor, the concert features traditional and contemporary gospel music, as well as spirituals.

Under the direction of Linda Kirkpatrick, senior lecturer in music at McDaniel, the Westminster Symphony Orchestra is comprised of McDaniel students, as well as students from Carroll Community College and community musicians.

McDaniel College students perform in the annual College Choir Concert on Sunday, Nov. 24, 7 p.m., in Baker Memorial Chapel at McDaniel College. The performance, titled "Oh, the Places You'll Go," is free and open to the public. The choir is under the direction of Kyle Engler, director of choral activities at McDaniel, with pianist and McDaniel music faculty member David Kreider serving as accompanist.

McDaniel College students perform in the Student African Drum Ensemble and "Making Rock" Showcase on Thursday, Nov. 21, at 7 p.m., in Levine Hall, Room 100 (Band Room) at McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, Md. The performance is free and open to the public.

McDaniel College students performed in the Student Solo Recital on Friday, Nov. 8. The recital featured a selection of vocal and instrumental soloists performing a variety of music spanning from classical to contemporary.
