Emma McNeil, a senior at McDaniel College from Frederick, Md., has been selected as the student speaker for the college's Midyear Graduates Recognition Ceremony from Dec. 7. McNeil was among 41 students recognized at the Midyear Graduates Recognition Ceremony.

Brianna Myung, a senior at McDaniel College from Westminster, Md., has been recognized as the Outstanding Midyear Graduate during the college's Midyear Graduates Recognition Ceremony on Dec. 7. The Outstanding Midyear Graduate award is given to a midyear graduate whose experiences at McDaniel College, inside and outside of the classroom, exemplify a commitment to the college community.

Nearly 20 McDaniel College students immersed themselves in another country through their study abroad experience during the fall 2019 semester. Over one-third of McDaniel students study abroad for academic credit in more than 50 countries.

McDaniel College senior Jade Enright was selected by Yale University professors to assist in their summer research. She was among 7 percent of some 5,000 applicants accepted into the Yale Biomed Amgen Scholars Program.

McDaniel College students perform in the Gospel Choir Concert on Sunday, Dec. 8, 3 p.m., in WMC Alumni Hall at McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, Md. Under the direction of music lecturer Shelley Ensor, the concert features traditional and contemporary gospel music, as well as spirituals.

McDaniel College students perform in the annual College Choir Concert on Sunday, Nov. 24, 7 p.m., in Baker Memorial Chapel at McDaniel College. The performance, titled "Oh, the Places You'll Go," is free and open to the public. The choir is under the direction of Kyle Engler, director of choral activities at McDaniel, with pianist and McDaniel music faculty member David Kreider serving as accompanist.

McDaniel College students perform in the Student African Drum Ensemble and "Making Rock" Showcase on Thursday, Nov. 21, at 7 p.m., in Levine Hall, Room 100 (Band Room) at McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, Md. The performance is free and open to the public.

McDaniel College students performed in the Student Solo Recital on Friday, Nov. 8. The recital featured a selection of vocal and instrumental soloists performing a variety of music spanning from classical to contemporary.

McDaniel College students were recently named to McDaniel's Homecoming Court during Homecoming on the Hill 2019. The homecoming court was presented Oct. 5 during pre-game activities. Two students from each class level were selected to be on the homecoming court.

Shelton Wilson of Gaithersburg, Md. (20878), a senior at McDaniel College, is among 100 finalists awarded a $22,000 U.S. Cyber FastTrack scholarship to attend the SANS Technology Institute as part of an accredited college program called Applied Cybersecurity. Wilson will have the opportunity to earn three certificates in advanced immersion courses with his full scholarship to the SANS Applied Cybersecurity Program. The winners' ages range from 18 to 63, representing 63 colleges in 28 states.

Marya Kuratova, a senior at McDaniel College from Westminster, Md., has been named the 2019 "Dear Abby" College Columnist Scholarship Contest Winner. She will receive a $5,000 scholarship from the "Dear Abby" College Scholarship Program, which seeks to recognize college publication columnists through this annual contest.
