McDaniel College Students Perform with the Westminster Symphony Orchestra
McDaniel College students perform with the Westminster Symphony Orchestra on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 3 p.m. in WMC Alumni Hall's Mainstage Theatre at McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, Maryland. Directed by Linda Kirkpatrick, senior lecturer in Music, the Westminster Symphony Orchestra includes McDaniel and Carroll Community College students, as well as Music faculty and community musicians.
McDaniel College Students Awarded Educator's Legacy Scholarships
McDaniel College has awarded select first-year and transfer students with Educator's Legacy Scholarships valued at up to $132,000, or $33,000 annually over four years, for each student. Children with a parent or guardian with at least four years of current and consecutive full-time employment at a K-12 school or community college can apply for this guaranteed scholarship to attend McDaniel College. Any service qualifies, such as teachers, administrators, counselors, or support staff, as long as the employment is directly through the school or college.

McDaniel College students participated in summer 2024 internships. Internships and other experiential learning opportunities, such as study abroad, student-faculty research, and independent study, are key elements of the "My Experience" component of the college's signature McDaniel Commitment. McDaniel College Students Receive Army ROTC Scholarships
McDaniel College students earned Army ROTC Scholarships. The scholarship, which is awarded based on scholastic, athletic and leadership attributes, covers full tuition, room and board, and fees, plus additional funds for books, as well as a monthly living stipend. The student will be commissioned as a second lieutenant and will be required to serve active duty in the Army Reserve or National Guard upon graduating from McDaniel.

McDaniel College senior Grayson Jons, a Communication major from Ijamsville (21754), served as a live content correspondent for the NFL. She was one of only three correspondents assigned to the Baltimore Ravens during the 2023-24 season.

McDaniel College Sophomore Ameerah Johnson Participates in Inaugural Service Year Option and Maryland Corps
Ameerah Johnson of Waldorf, Maryland, a sophomore Criminal Justice and Sociology major at McDaniel College, has been selected as an inaugural fellow for the Service Year Option and Maryland Corps though the Maryland Department of Service and Civic Innovation. Johnson is fulfilling her commitment at McDaniel, which is a host site for the program, where she is assisting with student outreach for various initiatives and programming focused on supporting students across the eight dimensions of wellness - intellectual, social, emotional, spiritual, environmental, financial, physical, and occupational.

McDaniel College students participated in the Model European Union 2023 Simulation held Nov. 9-11. A delegation of seven students represented Sweden and were accompanied by Christianna N. Leahy, chair of the Political Science and International Studies department at McDaniel. The Mid-Atlantic European Union Simulation engages students in discussions and debates that are both current and topical on the European Union (EU)'s agenda.

McDaniel seniors participated in the Entomology 2020 Virtual Meeting
Two McDaniel seniors presented research at the Entomological Society of America's Entomology 2020 Virtual Meeting. The meeting featured livestream sessions and symposia on Nov. 16, in addition to on-demand symposia, student competition, and 10-minute presentations, poster and infographics available to be viewed Nov. 11 through Nov. 25. Participants from McDaniel uploaded their slides and posters and recorded an audio presentation to go along with the visuals.

McDaniel College Senior Marlowe Embry honored with Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award
McDaniel College senior Marlowe Embry of San Jose, Calif., (J.H. Pitman), a member of the McDaniel volleyball team, has been honored by Diverse: Issues in Higher Education as part of its annual Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sports Scholars Award. This is the third consecutive year that Embry, who is a kinesiology major at McDaniel, has been recognized.
