McDaniel College awarded 368 bachelor's degrees during the college's 153rd Commencement on May 20. The Argonaut Award for the highest cumulative GPA during their entire completed courses of study was given to six undergraduates: Kate Rebecca Cramer, Evan J. Darr, Kyra M. Greenfield, Lyra Juliet Houghton, Grace Elizabeth Maglietta, and Eleanor Vivienne Tomkins.

Stephanie A. Eckard graduated summa cum laude from McDaniel College on May 20 with departmental honors in History. She was also the recipient of The Edith Farr Ridington Writing Award for her paper titled "The Deathless Devotion of Southern Women: How the United Daughters of the Confederacy Weaponized Monuments in the Battle for Southern Memory."

Stephani Xiomara Portillo Ordonez graduated magna cum laude from McDaniel College on May 20 with departmental honors in student-designed French Studies. She also majored in political science with a specialization in international studies and completed a minor in European Studies. She was also awarded The Mary Ward Lewis Prize as the outstanding member of the graduating class and The Frank and Margaret Malone Award for Excellence in a Foreign Language during McDaniel College's Senior Investiture and Honors Convocation on May 19.

Dylan Elroy Hughes graduated magna cum laude with a major in Psychology and a minor in Chemistry from McDaniel College on May 20. He was also awarded The Bates Prize as the outstanding member of the graduating class during McDaniel College's Senior Investiture and Honors Convocation on May 19.

The McDaniel College Band performed Friday, May 5, at McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, Maryland. Linda Kirkpatrick, senior lecturer of music, directs the band, which features approximately 50 students, faculty members, band alumni, and community musicians, performing everything from classical to pops.

McDaniel College students performed in the Gospel Choir Concert on Saturday, May 6, at McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, Maryland. The choir is under the direction of music lecturer Shelley Ensor.

McDaniel College students performed during Jazz Night on Thursday, May 4. Directed by Tim Jenkins, senior music lecturer at McDaniel, Jazz Night featured classic big band swing, bebop, Latin, Funk, Jazz-rock, and Classic Blues.

McDaniel College students performed with the Westminster Symphony Orchestra on Saturday, May 6. Under the direction of Linda Kirkpatrick, senior lecturer in music at McDaniel, the orchestra is comprised of McDaniel College and Carroll Community College students in addition to music faculty from both colleges, as well as community musicians.

Graduating senior cinema majors premiere student-produced digital features at the McDaniel Cinema Showcase. The McDaniel Cinema Showcase features capstone films written, directed, produced and edited by cinema majors at McDaniel as portfolios of their work.

Sophomore Javon Spencer, a Business Administration major from New Castle won the $5,000 top prize for first place at the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Challenge on April 20 at McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, Maryland.

Junior Emily Trachoo, a Marketing major from College Park received $1,000 as the runner-up at the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Challenge on April 20 at McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, Maryland.

Junior Kiyara Fleming, a Sociology major from Baltimore received $1,000 as the people's choice winner at the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Challenge on April 20 at McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, Maryland.

Shakara Sapp, a senior Theatre Arts major from Upper Marlboro, Maryland, directs "Wanda's Visit," Christopher Durang's comedic one-act play. Performances are Thursday, April 20, Friday, April 21 and Saturday, April 22 at 7:30 p.m. in Dorothy Elderdice Studio Theatre, WMC Alumni Hall. Note: the show, which is approximately 35 minutes in length, is intended for mature audiences.

The McDaniel College Choir will present its spring concert, "Music from France and the Diaspora," on Sunday, April 23 at 7 p.m. The concert will take place in Baker Memorial Chapel. The concert features movements from the Durufle Requiem to the gypsy jazz of Django Rheinhardt.

McDaniel College students performs in the Student Solo Recital on Friday, April 21, at McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, Maryland.

Works by graduating students at McDaniel College are highlighted in the second Senior Capstone Exhibition titled "Idveritas: Discovery of the Self," the exhibition which runs Tuesday, April 25-Friday, May 12 features a range of media, from traditional two- and three-dimensional approaches, to digital and new media.
