McDaniel College students were selected to attend the 2025 Eastern Sociological Society Conference held in Boston, March 6-9.

McDaniel College sophomore Kaiya Mayhew of Gaithersburg was selected to present published research findings at the 2025 Eastern Sociological Society Conference held in Boston, March 6-9.

Two McDaniel seniors presented research at the Entomological Society of America's Entomology 2020 Virtual Meeting. The meeting featured livestream sessions and symposia on Nov. 16, in addition to on-demand symposia, student competition, and 10-minute presentations, poster and infographics available to be viewed Nov. 11 through Nov. 25. Participants from McDaniel uploaded their slides and posters and recorded an audio presentation to go along with the visuals.

Sixteen McDaniel students collaborated on research with chemistry professors Dana Ferraris, Peter Craig, Stephanie Homan and Michael Polen, through McDaniel's student-faculty collaborative summer research program. As part of the experience, students were selected to present at the American Chemical Society annual conference in Philadelphia.

McDaniel College senior Jade Enright was selected by Yale University professors to assist in their summer research. She was among 7 percent of some 5,000 applicants accepted into the Yale Biomed Amgen Scholars Program.

McDaniel College 2018 graduate Makaila Lyons is currently sailing with SEA Semester on a scientific research voyage to the remote Phoenix Islands in the Pacific Ocean. She is one of a select group of undergraduates conducting research that will assist in the ongoing development of an effective conservation plan for the region.

McDaniel College 2018 graduate Riley Palmer is currently sailing 2,600 nautical miles from Papeete, Tahiti to Honolulu, Hawaii with SEA Semester's Pacific Reef Expedition summer program. The goal of the voyage is to study the effects of environmental change on remote and pristine coral reef ecosystems. Students will conduct snorkel-based surveys of local corals, fish, and invertebrates to help shed new light on the abilities of these reefs, which support some of the richest diversity of species on the planet, to endure and adapt to global climate change.

McDaniel College rising senior has been awarded a National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF).

McDaniel College junior Harrison Curnutte of Taneytown, Md., presented research findings at the University of Maryland Baltimore County Undergraduate Research Symposium. Curnutte was among three McDaniel students majoring in molecular biology who attended the conference on Oct. 14.

McDaniel College rising senior Ian Kasaitis of Crofton, Md., is currently sailing with SEA Semester on a rare scientific research voyage to the remote Phoenix Islands in the Pacific Ocean. Ian is one of 24 undergraduates from diverse U.S. colleges and universities who will conduct research to contribute to a growing data set of this largely under--studied region.
