McDaniel College

McDaniel College students participated in summer 2024 internships. Internships and other experiential learning opportunities, such as study abroad, student-faculty research, and independent study, are key elements of the "My Experience" component of the college's signature McDaniel Commitment. The McDaniel Commitment is supported by the Center for Experience and Opportunity, McDaniel's one-stop shop that focuses on experiential learning and career development.

McDaniel College students earned Army ROTC Scholarships. The scholarship, which is awarded based on scholastic, athletic and leadership attributes, covers full tuition, room and board, and fees, plus additional funds for books, as well as a monthly living stipend. The student will be commissioned as a second lieutenant and will be required to serve active duty in the Army Reserve or National Guard upon graduating from McDaniel.

Select graduating seniors from McDaniel College majoring in Elementary Education or minoring in PreK-12 or Secondary Education were named Teachers of Promise by the Maryland State Department of Education. These students, nominated based on GPA, service, leadership, and their performance during their student teaching semester, are mentored by award-winning educators in Maryland and had the opportunity to participate in a one-day Teachers of Promise Institute.

McDaniel College announces its spring 2024 dean's list, recognizing full-time undergraduate students for outstanding academic achievement. Highest honors are earned for a semester grade point average of 3.90 or higher, high honors for a grade point average of 3.70-3.89, and honors for a 3.50-3.69 grade point average.

Kramoh T. Mansalay graduated with majors in Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies and Biomedical Science from McDaniel College on May 18. He was awarded The Bates Prize as the outstanding member of the graduating class and The Frank and Margaret Malone Award for Excellence in a Foreign Language during McDaniel College's Senior Investiture and Honors Convocation on May 17.

Tyra N. Pritchett graduated magna cum laude with a major in Psychology from McDaniel College on May 18. She was awarded The Mary Ward Lewis Prize as the outstanding member of the graduating class during McDaniel College's Senior Investiture and Honors Convocation on May 17.

Zachary E. Brown of Taneytown, who graduated Magna Cum Laude with Honors in both Biology and History, was the recipient of The Edith Farr Ridington Writing Award. Brown's paper was titled "Over the Top, Under the Microscope: World War I and the Redirection of Clinical Microbiology." Additionally, at the May 17 Senior Investiture and Honors Convocation, Brown received The Class of 1938 Award for Excellence in Music and The Hugh Barnette Speir, Jr. Prize for the student showing the greatest excellence in European history.
