McDaniel College students were named to McDaniel's 2024 Homecoming Court. The Homecoming Court was presented Nov. 2 during pre-game activities of the Green Terror football game.

McDaniel College has awarded select first-year and transfer students with Military Legacy Scholarships valued at up to $100,000 for each student. All military veterans, active-duty military personnel and their children can apply for this guaranteed scholarship to attend McDaniel College.

Four McDaniel College students were selected to present with McDaniel Assistant Professor of Education Laura Bitto at the Maryland Council of Teachers of Mathematics (MCTM) annual conference held in Howard County at Reservoir High School in Fulton, Maryland, on Oct. 18.

McDaniel College's Department of Music presents a special seasonal concert titled "McDaniel for the Holidays." The free performance takes place Sunday, Nov. 10, at 7 p.m. in Baker Memorial Chapel at McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, Maryland. Organized by Senior Adjunct Lecturer Shelley Ensor, McDaniel students, alumni, and faculty, as well as community members, are scheduled to perform.

McDaniel College students perform in McDaniel College Theatre's production of "Measure for Measure," William Shakespeare's darkest comedy. Accounting majors at McDaniel College participated in McDaniel's annual Interviewing Day on Oct. 4. The students had the opportunity to meet during a three-hour time period with regional firms, many of which were represented by McDaniel alumni.

McDaniel College students participated in summer 2024 internships. Internships and other experiential learning opportunities, such as study abroad, student-faculty research, and independent study, are key elements of the "My Experience" component of the college's signature McDaniel Commitment. The McDaniel Commitment is supported by the Center for Experience and Opportunity, McDaniel's one-stop shop that focuses on experiential learning and career development.

McDaniel College students earned Army ROTC Scholarships. The scholarship, which is awarded based on scholastic, athletic and leadership attributes, covers full tuition, room and board, and fees, plus additional funds for books, as well as a monthly living stipend. The student will be commissioned as a second lieutenant and will be required to serve active duty in the Army Reserve or National Guard upon graduating from McDaniel.

Select graduating seniors from McDaniel College majoring in Elementary Education or minoring in PreK-12 or Secondary Education were named Teachers of Promise by the Maryland State Department of Education. These students, nominated based on GPA, service, leadership, and their performance during their student teaching semester, are mentored by award-winning educators in Maryland and had the opportunity to participate in a one-day Teachers of Promise Institute.

McDaniel College announces its spring 2024 dean's list, recognizing full-time undergraduate students for outstanding academic achievement. Highest honors are earned for a semester grade point average of 3.90 or higher, high honors for a grade point average of 3.70-3.89, and honors for a 3.50-3.69 grade point average.

Tyra N. Pritchett graduated magna cum laude with a major in Psychology from McDaniel College on May 18. She was awarded The Mary Ward Lewis Prize as the outstanding member of the graduating class during McDaniel College's Senior Investiture and Honors Convocation on May 17.

Kramoh T. Mansalay graduated with majors in Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies and Biomedical Science from McDaniel College on May 18. He was awarded The Bates Prize as the outstanding member of the graduating class and The Frank and Margaret Malone Award for Excellence in a Foreign Language during McDaniel College's Senior Investiture and Honors Convocation on May 17.

Six McDaniel College graduates were commissioned May 17 as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army.

Zachary E. Brown of Taneytown, who graduated Magna Cum Laude with Honors in both Biology and History, was the recipient of The Edith Farr Ridington Writing Award. Brown's paper was titled "Over the Top, Under the Microscope: World War I and the Redirection of Clinical Microbiology." Additionally, at the May 17 Senior Investiture and Honors Convocation, Brown received The Class of 1938 Award for Excellence in Music and The Hugh Barnette Speir, Jr. Prize for the student showing the greatest excellence in European history.

McDaniel College awarded 407 bachelor's degrees during the college's Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony on May 18. The Argonaut Award for the highest cumulative GPA during their entire completed courses of study was given to five undergraduates: Haley E. Arnold, Kendall Rose Catlin, Signe T. Kula, Brenna R. Mayberry, and Ariana Kaylin Stormont.

Kai Christenberry of Moody earned a master's degree in Deaf Education and received The B. Jill Brooks Hodge Professional Development Award during McDaniel College's Graduate Commencement Ceremony on May 18.

Lindsey Cruz-Gutierrez, a senior at Sherwood High School in Sandy Spring, Maryland, has been named a Dorsey Scholar at McDaniel College, earning a four-year scholarship, including full tuition, room, and board. The Dorsey Scholarship is the highest academic honor at McDaniel and is valued at more than $250,000.
