McDaniel College awarded more than 600 undergraduate and graduate degrees during the College's 148th commencement ceremony on May 19. Select graduating seniors also received academic, activity and leadership awards at the Senior Investiture and Honors Convocation on May 18.

Samantha Wilson, a senior at McDaniel College, has been named a Fulbright finalist for an English Teaching Assistantship (ETA) in Cote d'Ivoire. Wilson of Sedro-Woolley, Wash., is a double major in French and political science with a specialization in international studies.

McDaniel College students were recognized at the April 29 Spring Awards ceremony. More than 30 honors for academic achievement and leadership were awarded to juniors, sophomores and freshmen.

McDaniel College juniors were named April 29 to the Trumpeters leadership honor society. Trumpeters is a leadership honor society that recognizes exemplary qualities of leadership, integrity, and sincerity. Those selected are called to serve as positive examples of the campus by devoting themselves to academics, extracurricular activities and service.

McDaniel College juniors were named April 29 to the Omicron Delta Kappa national leadership honor society. Omicron Delta Kappa, a national leadership honor society, was installed at the College in 1963.

McDaniel College selects 19 freshman into the college's Global Fellows program. The Global Fellows program is a three-year program that is open to freshmen and is designed to enhance their understanding of global issues, develop heightened intercultural competency and cultivate the skills and attitudes important to leading successful lives in a global context.

McDaniel College junior Atticus Rice of Portland, Ore., has been named a 2018 Newman Civic Fellow, one of 268 student leaders nationwide recognized by Campus Compact. A double major in political science and communication, he was nominated for the honor by McDaniel President Roger N. Casey.
