Simi Adeoye of Frederick, a senior at McDaniel College, was named a Governor's Summer Internship Fellow and participated in an internship with Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan's office through the Public Service Scholars program.

McDaniel College Students Receive Army ROTC Scholarships

McDaniel College students earned Army ROTC Scholarships. The scholarships, which are awarded based on scholastic, athletic and leadership attributes, cover full tuition and fees, plus additional funds for books, as well as a monthly living stipend. The students will be commissioned as second lieutenants and will be required to serve active duty in the Army Reserve or National Guard upon graduating from McDaniel. Scholarships totaling nearly $2.2 million were awarded to the Green Terror Battalion.

McDaniel College Rising Junior Meghan Sadler Selected as Editor for Undergraduate Research Journal

Meghan Sadler, a rising junior at McDaniel College and member of the McDaniel College Honors Program, has been chosen as an editor for UReCA, a national undergraduate research journal sponsored by the National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC). Sadler of Blandon, Pa., traveled to Bryce Canyon, Utah, in June for a three-day workshop with UReCA editors and faculty advisers. The team tent-camped, hiked, and spent long hours reviewing and fine tuning UReCA to maintain momentum and improve systems such as soliciting, marketing, Web site design, selection rubrics, and the editorial process.

McDaniel College 2018 graduate Makaila Lyons is currently sailing with SEA Semester on a scientific research voyage to the remote Phoenix Islands in the Pacific Ocean. She is one of a select group of undergraduates conducting research that will assist in the ongoing development of an effective conservation plan for the region.

McDaniel College announces its Spring 2018 Dean's List in recognition of students' academic excellence. Highest honors are earned for a semester grade point average of 3.90 or higher, high honors for a grade point average of 3.70-3.89, and honors for a 3.50-3.69 average.

McDaniel College Graduate Riley Palmer Participates in SEA Semester's Pacific Reef Expedition Summer Program

McDaniel College 2018 graduate Riley Palmer is currently sailing 2,600 nautical miles from Papeete, Tahiti to Honolulu, Hawaii with SEA Semester's Pacific Reef Expedition summer program. The goal of the voyage is to study the effects of environmental change on remote and pristine coral reef ecosystems. Students will conduct snorkel-based surveys of local corals, fish, and invertebrates to help shed new light on the abilities of these reefs, which support some of the richest diversity of species on the planet, to endure and adapt to global climate change.
