McDaniel College

McDaniel College selects 14 freshman into the college's Global Fellows program. The Global Fellows program is a three-year program that is open to freshmen and is designed to enhance their understanding of global issues, develop heightened intercultural competency and cultivate the skills and attitudes important to leading successful lives in a global context.

On March 31, 30 McDaniel students were inducted into the Delta of Maryland Chapter of the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa national honor society. McDaniel College alumnus George Harold Baker, III, of Dayton, Va., a professor emeritus at James Madison University, was also inducted.

McDaniel College theatre arts students perform in "That's Sketchy!," a student-written sketch comedy show featuring all original pieces developed by McDaniel students. Performances are Wednesday, April 10-Saturday, April 13. Note: the show is recommended for ages 16 and over due to adult language.

Students from McDaniel College participated at the Maryland Collegiate Honors Conference held at Morgan State University, March 1-2.

Three McDaniel College students presented research at the American Academy of Religion and the Society of Biblical Literature Mid-Atlantic region conference held Feb. 28 - March 1 in New Brunswick, N.J.

Nine McDaniel College students attended the 2019 League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) Emerge Latino Conference held February 12-14, in Washington, D.C. McDaniel is the only college or university in Maryland to have a LULAC chapter on campus.

McDaniel College theatre arts students perform "Clybourne Park," winner of the 2011 Pulitzer Prize and the 2012 Tony Award for Best Play. Performances are Wednesday, March 6-Saturday, March 9, at 7:30 p.m., in WMC Alumni Hall at McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, Md.

Students from McDaniel College have been chosen to participate in "Maryland Independent Higher Education Day" in Annapolis, Md., on Wednesday, Feb. 13.

McDaniel College announces its Fall 2018 Dean's List, recognizing full-time undergraduate students for outstanding academic achievement. Highest honors are earned for a semester grade point average of 3.90 or higher, high honors for a grade point average of 3.70-3.89, and honors for a 3.50-3.69 grade point average.

McDaniel College students presented student-faculty research findings at the annual Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology conference Jan. 3-7, 2019, in Tampa, Fla. The four McDaniel students presented research with biology professor Katie Staab.

McDaniel College students presented at the UMBC Undergraduate Research Symposium in the Chemical and Biological Sciences on Oct. 20.

McDaniel College students participated in the 2018 National Model United Nations China conference at Northwestern Polytechnical University in Xi'an, China, Nov. 18-24. McDaniel's delegation included 13 students.

McDaniel College students participated in the 2018 Capital Area Model Arab League conference at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., Nov. 17 and 18. The six McDaniel students in attendance represented Morocco and Jordan.

McDaniel College students perform in the Gospel Choir Concert on Sunday, Dec. 9, 3 p.m., in WMC Alumni Hall at McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, Md. Under the direction of music lecturer Shelley Ensor, the concert features traditional and contemporary gospel music, as well as spirituals.

McDaniel College students perform with the Westminster Symphony Orchestra on Saturday, Dec. 8, 3 p.m., in WMC Alumni Hall at McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, Md. Under the direction of Linda Kirkpatrick, senior lecturer in music at McDaniel, the Westminster Symphony Orchestra is comprised of McDaniel students, as well as students from Carroll Community College and community musicians.

McDaniel College students participated in the Model European Union 2018 Conference in Washington, D.C., November 9-11. McDaniel's delegation of 10 students represented Belgium.

McDaniel College students perform in the annual College Choir Concert on Sunday, Dec. 2, 7 p.m. The performance, titled "Songs of Peace," is free and open to the public. The choir is under the direction of Margaret Boudreaux, director of choral activities at McDaniel, with pianist and McDaniel music faculty member David Kreider serving as accompanist.

McDaniel College students performed in the Student Solo Recital on Friday, Nov. 9, 7 p.m. The recital featured a selection of vocal and instrumental soloists performing a wide variety of music spanning from classical to contemporary.

McDaniel College students were inducted Nov. 4 into the Kappa Delta Pi international honor society for education.

McDaniel College students performed in "McDaniel United: A Celebration of Love and Unity" on Saturday, Oct. 20. The performance featured many McDaniel music department faculty members and musical groups and was focused on delivering a positive message of love and unity.

McDaniel College students perform in the Student African Drum Ensemble on Thursday, Nov. 29, 7 p.m. The performance, which is free and open to the public, takes place in Decker Center Forum at McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, Md. The group is under the direction of McDaniel music faculty member Pape Demba "Paco" Samb, a Senegalese griot.

McDaniel College students perform in the Student Voice and Piano Recital on Friday, Nov. 16, at 7 p.m. The performance, which is free and open to the public, takes place in Levine Recital Hall at McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, Md.

McDaniel College students perform in the Flute Choir and Saxophone Quartet Concert on Thursday, Nov. 15, 7 p.m., in McDaniel Lounge at McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, Md. The performance is free and open to the public.

Alpha Lambda Delta (First Year Seminar) recognizes students who completed their first year at McDaniel with a 3.7 grade point average (GPA) or higher. Its mission is to encourage superior academic achievement, promote intelligent living and continued high standards and to assist students in recognizing and developing meaningful goals for their roles in society.

Children with a parent or guardian who has at least four years of current and consecutive full time employment at a K-12 school or community college can apply for this guaranteed scholarship to attend McDaniel College. Any service qualifies, such as teachers, administrators, counselors, nurses or support staff, etc.

Children with a parent or guardian who has at least four years of current and consecutive full time employment at a K-12 school or community college can apply for this guaranteed scholarship with a four-year value of up to $100,000 to attend McDaniel College.
