McDaniel College student Jessia Avila is one of 20 students selected from over 600 applicants across the U.S. as an inaugural Key into Public Service Scholar by The Phi Beta Kappa Society, the nation's most prestigious academic honor society. McDaniel is one of 290 colleges and universities with a Phi Beta Kappa chapter. The award recognizes students who have demonstrated interest in working in the public sector and possess a strong academic record in the liberal arts and sciences.

Graduating seniors create cinema capstone as the culmination of their studies at McDaniel. For the Spring 2020 semester, the students had the opportunity to either write an original screenplay or produce a 20-minute film.

Incoming students have enrolled at McDaniel College as members of the Class of 2024. This list includes students who have deposited as of June 5.

McDaniel College students have been named to the Trumpeters leadership honor society. Trumpeters is a leadership honor society that recognizes exemplary qualities of leadership, integrity, and sincerity.

McDaniel College students have been named to the Omicron Delta Kappa national leadership honor society. Omicron Delta Kappa, a national leadership honor society, was installed at the College in 1963.

Nearly 30 juniors, sophomores and first-year students have earned awards for academic achievement and leadership from McDaniel College.

McDaniel College graduate student Cross Okereke was one of nine cadets from the Green Terror Battalion commissioned during a virtual ceremony on May 22 as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army. Okereke is pursuing a master's degree at McDaniel in Counseling with a Clinical Mental Health specialization.

Ravi B. Patel was awarded The Bates Prize as the outstanding male graduating senior during McDaniel College's Celebration Day held on May 23 in honor of the Class of 2020.

Veronica Grace Johns was awarded The Mary Ward Lewis Prize as the outstanding female member of the graduating class during McDaniel College's Celebration Day held May 23 in honor of the Class of 2020.

Sarah Grace Watcher received The Joan Develin Coley Award for Excellence in Education. The Joan Develin Coley Award for Excellence in Education is presented to the graduate student with the best record in the study of literacy theory and practice.

Claire Frances Roberts received The B. Jill Brooks Hodge Professional Development Award. The B. Jill Brooks Hodge Professional Development Award is presented to the graduate student who has demonstrated academic excellence with a strong compassion for individuals with special needs and an interest in serving the deaf or disabled.

"Something Bigger" explores the work of four McDaniel students who seek to understand concepts that are larger than just themselves, "and how we as individuals fit into the equation." The online exhibitions run Friday, May 8-Friday, May 22.

McDaniel College junior Marlowe Embry of San Jose, Calif. 95035 (J.H. Pitman), has been honored with an Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award from Diverse: Issues In Higher Education. This is the second consecutive year that Embry, who is a Kinesiology major at McDaniel, has been recognized.

Five senior art students showcase their work in "Perspective, Perceptions, and the Self: Private Lives in a Public World," which examines what it means to develop as an individual in this ever-changing world. The online exhibitions run Friday, May 8-Friday, May 22.

McDaniel College selects 15 freshmen into the college's Global Fellows program. The Global Fellows program is a three-year program that is open to freshmen and is designed to enhance their understanding of global issues, develop heightened intercultural competency and cultivate the skills and attitudes important to leading successful lives in a global context.

On May 5, 28 McDaniel students were virtually inducted into the Delta of Maryland Chapter of the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa national honor society. Founded in 1776, The Phi Beta Kappa Society is the nation's oldest academic honor society.

McDaniel College senior Isabella Mendiola, a kinesiology major from Frederick, Md., has been awarded the Dean Adele Hagner Stamp Graduate Fellowship from Alpha Lambda Delta. The graduate fellowship, which is in the amount of $2,000, is for the 2020-21 academic year. Mendiola is planning to pursue a doctorate degree in occupational therapy.

Five McDaniel College students attended the 2020 League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) Emerge Latino Conference held February 25-27, in Washington, D.C. McDaniel is the only college or university in Maryland to have a LULAC chapter on campus.

Six McDaniel students were selected to present at the Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society Conference. [Note: The conference was supposed to take place March 28 at Washington College in Chestertown, Md., but was canceled due to COVID-19.]

Sixteen McDaniel students collaborated on research with chemistry professors Dana Ferraris, Peter Craig, Stephanie Homan and Michael Polen, through McDaniel's student-faculty collaborative summer research program. As part of the experience, students were selected to present at the American Chemical Society annual conference in Philadelphia.

Ravi Patel, a senior at McDaniel College, has been named a Fulbright finalist for an English Teaching Assistant Award in Indonesia. Patel is the 12th McDaniel student to ever receive a Fulbright scholarship. The Fulbright U.S. Student Program, sponsored by the Department of State, is the largest American international exchange program with approximately 8,000 grants awarded annually. More than 390,000 participants from over 160 countries have participated in the Fulbright program since 1946.

McDaniel College students have continued internships remotely for local nonprofits. Students are participating in the internships as part of McDaniel College's Writing for Nonprofit Organizations course. The course strengthens the college's relationship with the Westminster community and gives students firsthand experience by having them complete accredited internships at local nonprofits.

McDaniel College student Noelle Skoda of Nottingham has been recognized with the regional Stage Management Fellowship for her work in McDaniel College's Student-Directed Play Festival, which took place March 4 through March 7 in WMC Alumni Hall at McDaniel College.

McDaniel College students received regional recognition for outstanding student direction of all three shows during the Student-Directed Play Festival. Performances were Wednesday, March 4-Saturday, March 7, 7:30 p.m., in WMC Alumni Hall at McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, Md.
