McDaniel College students perform with the Westminster Symphony Orchestra. The performance is Saturday, May 4, 3 p.m., at Carroll Community College, 1601 Washington Road, Westminster, Md. The Westminster Symphony Orchestra is comprised of McDaniel College and Carroll Community College students, as well as community musicians. The orchestra is under the direction of Linda Kirkpatrick, senior lecturer in music at McDaniel College.

Graduating senior cinema majors at McDaniel College premiere student-produced digital features at the McDaniel Cinema Showcase. The event takes place Thursday, May 9, 7 p.m., in Decker Auditorium, Lewis Hall of Science, at McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, Md. Admission is free and open to the public.

McDaniel College students on team Liquid Lens competed in the McDaniel College Innovation Challenge Finals on April 15. Liquid Lens by senior Chloe DePiano, communication major from Titusville, N.J., senior Zachary Fortuna, business administration major from Metuchen, N.J., and senior Dustin Miller, communication major from Wyomissing, Pa., is both an aluminum water bottle and social media app aimed at making a positive environmental impact.

Madison Hively, a junior from Frederick (21704), competed in the McDaniel College Innovation Challenge Finals on April 15. Hively presented AWARE, aimed at creating electricity in a renewable way.

McDaniel College students on team Money Mind won $2,000 for third place in the McDaniel College Innovation Challenge Finals on April 15.

McDaniel College students on team Abilitize won $3,000 for second place in the McDaniel College Innovation Challenge Finals on April 15. Abilitize is an advertising agency focused on accessibility that empowers businesses to engage people with disabilities.

Rachael Fox, a junior at McDaniel College from Crofton (21114-2551), won the $10,000 top prize for first place in the McDaniel College Innovation Challenge Finals on April 15.

McDaniel College students performed in the Student Solo Recital on Friday, April 12. The recital featured a selection of vocal and instrumental soloists performing a variety of music spanning from classical to contemporary.

McDaniel College seniors presented at the Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference held March 30. Approximately 50 papers were presented at the conference from over a dozen colleges and universities, including five from McDaniel.

McDaniel College selects 14 freshman into the college's Global Fellows program. The Global Fellows program is a three-year program that is open to freshmen and is designed to enhance their understanding of global issues, develop heightened intercultural competency and cultivate the skills and attitudes important to leading successful lives in a global context.

On March 31, 30 McDaniel students were inducted into the Delta of Maryland Chapter of the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa national honor society. McDaniel College alumnus George Harold Baker, III, of Dayton, Va., a professor emeritus at James Madison University, was also inducted.

Three McDaniel College students presented research at the American Academy of Religion and the Society of Biblical Literature Mid-Atlantic region conference held Feb. 28 - March 1 in New Brunswick, N.J.

McDaniel College theatre arts students perform in "That's Sketchy!," a student-written sketch comedy show featuring all original pieces developed by McDaniel students. Performances are Wednesday, April 10-Saturday, April 13. Note: the show is recommended for ages 16 and over due to adult language.

Nine McDaniel College students attended the 2019 League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) Emerge Latino Conference held February 12-14, in Washington, D.C. McDaniel is the only college or university in Maryland to have a LULAC chapter on campus.

Students from McDaniel College have been chosen to participate in "Maryland Independent Higher Education Day" in Annapolis, Md., on Wednesday, Feb. 13.

McDaniel College announces its Fall 2018 Dean's List, recognizing full-time undergraduate students for outstanding academic achievement. Highest honors are earned for a semester grade point average of 3.90 or higher, high honors for a grade point average of 3.70-3.89, and honors for a 3.50-3.69 grade point average.

McDaniel College students presented student-faculty research findings at the annual Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology conference Jan. 3-7, 2019, in Tampa, Fla. The four McDaniel students presented research with biology professor Katie Staab.
