McDaniel College Sophomore Receives Army ROTC Scholarship
The scholarship, which is awarded based on scholastic, athletic and leadership attributes, covers full tuition, room and board, and fees, plus additional funds for books, as well as a monthly living stipend. The student will be commissioned as a Second Lieutenant and will incur a service commitment to be served on active duty, in the Army Reserve, or National Guard upon graduating from McDaniel.

McDaniel College announces its Fall 2022 dean's list, recognizing full-time undergraduate students for outstanding academic achievement. Highest honors are earned for a semester grade point average of 3.90 or higher, high honors for a grade point average of 3.70-3.89, and honors for a 3.50-3.69 grade point average.

McDaniel's delegation of 11 students represented Ireland and were accompanied by Christianna N. Leahy, chair of the political science and international studies department at McDaniel. The Mid-Atlantic European Union Simulation engages students in discussions and debates that are both current and topical on the European Union (EU)'s agenda.

Sana Askari earns Full Four-Year Scholarship to McDaniel
Sana Askari has been named a Dorsey Scholar at McDaniel College, earning a four-year scholarship, including full tuition, room, and board. The Dorsey Scholarship is the highest academic honor at McDaniel and is valued at more than $200,000.

McDaniel College awarded 297 bachelor's degrees during the 152nd undergraduate Commencement ceremony on May 21. Select graduating seniors also received academic, activity and leadership awards at the Senior Investiture and Honors Convocation on May 20.

McDaniel College Sophomore Sydney Hinnant receives college's Griswold-Zepp award
Sydney Hinnant, a sophomore Psychology major, was awarded a Griswold-Zepp award from McDaniel College for a mental health awareness and support project. The Center for Experience and Opportunity (CEO) at McDaniel oversees the Griswold-Zepp Award, which can total up to $3,000 for proposed volunteer experiences of McDaniel students, addressing the needs of local, regional, national, or worldwide communities.

Joshua Arruda of Morrisville won $5K Top Prize at McDaniel College Innovation and Entrepreneurship Challenge
Joshua Arruda of Morrisville won the $5,000 top prize for first place at the McDaniel College Innovation and Entrepreneurship Challenge on April 21. Arruda also got $1,000 as the People's Choice winner. He is a senior accounting, economics, and business administration triple major at McDaniel. Arruda presented HiQ Basketball. HiQ Basketball is a subscription service for youth athletes, leveraging existing online platforms, to deliver Basketball IQ Training at basketball camps and to individuals.

Three students represented McDaniel College at the Maryland Collegiate Honors Conference held virtually on Feb. 25-26. McDaniel College Honors students Rebecca Halaney, Zach Ruggerie, and Raquel Sobczak were excited to have the opportunity to present at the conference and enjoyed hearing and learning of the stories and research from other presenters.

McDaniel seniors participated in the Entomology 2020 Virtual Meeting
Two McDaniel seniors presented research at the Entomological Society of America's Entomology 2020 Virtual Meeting. The meeting featured livestream sessions and symposia on Nov. 16, in addition to on-demand symposia, student competition, and 10-minute presentations, poster and infographics available to be viewed Nov. 11 through Nov. 25. Participants from McDaniel uploaded their slides and posters and recorded an audio presentation to go along with the visuals.

McDaniel College Senior Marlowe Embry honored with Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award
McDaniel College senior Marlowe Embry of San Jose, Calif., (J.H. Pitman), a member of the McDaniel volleyball team, has been honored by Diverse: Issues in Higher Education as part of its annual Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sports Scholars Award. This is the third consecutive year that Embry, who is a kinesiology major at McDaniel, has been recognized.
