Three McDaniel College students presented research at the American Academy of Religion and the Society of Biblical Literature Mid-Atlantic region conference held Feb. 28 - March 1 in New Brunswick, N.J.

Students from McDaniel College have been chosen to participate in "Maryland Independent Higher Education Day" in Annapolis, Md., on Wednesday, Feb. 13.

Meghan Sadler, a rising junior at McDaniel College and member of the McDaniel College Honors Program, has been chosen as an editor for UReCA, a national undergraduate research journal sponsored by the National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC). Sadler of Blandon, Pa., traveled to Bryce Canyon, Utah, in June for a three-day workshop with UReCA editors and faculty advisers. The team tent-camped, hiked, and spent long hours reviewing and fine tuning UReCA to maintain momentum and improve systems such as soliciting, marketing, Web site design, selection rubrics, and the editorial process.

Samantha Wilson, a senior at McDaniel College, has been named a Fulbright finalist for an English Teaching Assistantship (ETA) in Cote d'Ivoire. Wilson of Sedro-Woolley, Wash., is a double major in French and political science with a specialization in international studies.

McDaniel College students were recognized at the April 29 Spring Awards ceremony. More than 30 honors for academic achievement and leadership were awarded to juniors, sophomores and freshmen.

McDaniel College selects 19 freshman into the college's Global Fellows program. The Global Fellows program is a three-year program that is open to freshmen and is designed to enhance their understanding of global issues, develop heightened intercultural competency and cultivate the skills and attitudes important to leading successful lives in a global context.

Graduating senior cinema majors at McDaniel College premiere student-produced digital features at the McDaniel Cinema Showcase. The event takes place Thursday, May 3, 7 p.m., in Decker Auditorium, Lewis Hall of Science, at McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, Md. Admission is free and open to the public.

McDaniel College junior Jasmin Chavez of Falls Church, Va., has been selected for the Donald J. Weidner Summer for Undergraduates program at the Florida State University College of Law. She is one of 60 students nationwide admitted into this prestigious program.

McDaniel College students are founding members of the McDaniel College Rotaract Club, a service and leadership organization officially chartered by Rotary International.
