McDaniel College students participated in study tours through a wide variety of courses during Jan Term. January Term, known as Jan Term, is a three-week session between the fall and spring semesters that allows students and faculty to explore new areas and expand their intellectual horizons with specially designed courses.

McDaniel College seniors were awarded top prizes at the Maryland Water Monitoring Council's Annual Conference held Nov. 17 at the Maritime Conference Center in Linthicum Heights, Md.

McDaniel College students were recognized at the Nov. 5 Undergraduate Awards ceremony. Current seniors, juniors, and sophomores were honored for academic achievement and leadership.

Katie Klein, a senior Psychology and Kinesiology major at McDaniel College, Westminster, Md., along with two 2023 McDaniel alums, a McDaniel faculty member, and a staff member presented student-faculty research findings at the annual Association for Applied Sport Psychology Conference Oct. 18-21 in Orlando, Fla.

McDaniel College students were named to McDaniel's 2023 Homecoming Court. The Homecoming Court was presented Sept. 30 during pre-game activities. Student representatives from each class level were selected to be on the Homecoming Court.

Recent McDaniel College graduate Carly Ludwig was named a Distinguished Teacher Candidate by the Maryland Association of Teacher Educators (MATE).

Select graduating seniors from McDaniel College majoring in Elementary Education or minoring in PreK-12 or Secondary Education were named Teachers of Promise by the Maryland State Department of Education. These students, nominated based on GPA, service, leadership, and their application, are provided with a mentor to guide them through their transition from college to the classroom.and had the opportunity to participate in the Teachers of Promise Institute.

Graduating senior cinema majors premiere student-produced digital features at the McDaniel Cinema Showcase. The McDaniel Cinema Showcase features capstone films written, directed, produced and edited by cinema majors at McDaniel as portfolios of their work.

Sophomore Eric Grinwis, a Business Administration major from Laurel received $1,000 as the community changer winner at the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Challenge on April 20 at McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, Maryland.

Sophomore Javon Spencer, a Business Administration major from New Castle won the $5,000 top prize for first place at the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Challenge on April 20 at McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, Maryland.

Junior Emily Trachoo, a Marketing major from College Park received $1,000 as the runner-up at the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Challenge on April 20 at McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, Maryland.

Junior Kiyara Fleming, a Sociology major from Baltimore received $1,000 as the people's choice winner at the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Challenge on April 20 at McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, Maryland.

McDaniel College senior Skylar Blackbull was recognized at the inaugural Lycoming College Undergraduate Humanities Research Conference.

Eight McDaniel College students participate in "Maryland Independent Higher Education Day" on Feb. 22.

McDaniel College students were recognized at the Nov. 6 Undergraduate Awards ceremony. More than 20 honors for academic achievement and leadership were awarded to current seniors, juniors, and sophomores.

McDaniel College students were recently named to McDaniel's Homecoming Court during Homecoming on the Hill 2022. The homecoming court was presented Oct. 1 during pre-game activities. Two students from each class level were selected to be on the homecoming court.

McDaniel College students participated in the Student-Faculty Collaborative Summer Research Program. Students interested in undergraduate research are annually selected to participate in this summer program, which is supported by donors.

Elementary Education major Mackenzie McBride, who graduated May 21 summa cum laude with departmental honors in Education from McDaniel College, was named a Distinguished Teacher Candidate by the Maryland Association of Teacher Educators (MATE). McDaniel College selects 13 students as National Security Fellows. The National Security Fellows Program pairs with any program of study and provides McDaniel students with robust knowledge, skills, and experience in national security as well as the ability to specialize in an area of interest, such as interstate conflict, intra-state political violence, cybersecurity, ethics, and human rights.

Ada Mejia, a senior at McDaniel College majoring in political science and sociology, received a Phenomenal Woman Award from McDaniel College.

McDaniel College selects 16 students into the college's Global Fellows program. The Global Fellows program is a three-year program that is designed to enhance students' understanding of global issues, develop heightened intercultural competency and cultivate the skills and attitudes important to leading successful lives in a global context. Students earn a Global Fellow designation on their transcript upon completion of the program.
