Destiny Alysia Edwards of Gwynn Oak Graduates from McDaniel College and Receives Senior Award

Destiny Alysia Edwards of Gwynn Oak (21207) graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from McDaniel College on May 18.

Select graduating seniors also received academic, activity and leadership awards at the Senior Investiture and Honors Convocation on May 17. Edwards was the recipient of The Alumni Citizenship Award to the student who has displayed a steadying loyalty to classmates and the college through active participation in campus life and contributions to the betterment of the college.

McDaniel College awarded a total of 703 master's and bachelor's degrees during the college's 154th Commencement on May 18. Commencement speaker for the undergraduate ceremony was higher education leader Freeman A. Hrabowski III. The 407 bachelor's degree recipients hailed from 15 states, plus the District of Columbia, and nine countries.

Academic honors given at graduation include summa cum laude for a cumulative grade point average of 3.9 or higher, magna cum laude for a cumulative grade point average of 3.70 to 3.89 and cum laude for a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 to 3.69.
