McDaniel College senior Theatre Arts major Kim Parson of Pikesville earns national recognition for lighting design
Senior Theatre Arts major Kim Parson's passion for lighting design has earned her national recognition. Parson of Pikesville, Maryland, was one of only 12 students from around the country invited to participate in the United States Institute for Theatre Technology's Gateway Program, which provides mentorship opportunities for underrepresented students. She was also one of only 11 finalists asked to present at the Region II Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) in January and will represent the region at next week's KCACTF national festival.

There were two inductees for associate membership and 10 for active membership. Ben Smith, director of the McDaniel College STEM Center, was also inducted as an honorary member.

Six McDaniel College students were selected to present their student-faculty research findings at the 87th annual Intercollegiate Student Chemists Convention held April 6 at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania. This long-running conference for undergraduate students included 84 undergraduate research presentations in the chemical sciences from students representing colleges and universities in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, and New Jersey.

McDaniel College junior Javon Spencer of New Castle selected as Innovators of Progress Fellow
McDaniel College junior Javon Spencer of New Castle was selected as one of six 2024 Innovators of Progress Fellows. This one-year pre-accelerator program, which is an independent affiliate of MAGIC (the Mid-Atlantic Gigabit Innovation Collaboratory), supports entrepreneurial college students in becoming full-time founders of their own technology-enabled ventures. Spencer is a Business Administration major with a minor in Entrepreneurship at McDaniel.

Ameerah Johnson of Waldorf, Maryland, a sophomore Criminal Justice and Sociology major at McDaniel College, has been selected as an inaugural fellow for the Service Year Option and Maryland Corps though the Maryland Department of Service and Civic Innovation.
