McDaniel College senior Rachel Statler of Greencastle, Pa., presented research at biology conference

2015 Feb 6

McDaniel College senior Rachel Statler of Greencastle, Pa., presented research findings at the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology (SICB) conference. Statler was among six McDaniel students who attended the conference in West Palm Beach, Fla., Jan. 3-7, 2015.

Her research, which she conducted with McDaniel Biology professor Katie Staab, explored the effects of ornamentation (seen in "fancy" goldfish varieties) on feeding mechanics.

"I benefited from SICB by making connections with people -- outside of casual interactions, the questions posed from those listening to my presentation allowed me to think about my research from a different angle or to confirm that I really did know what I was talking about," said Statler.
