McDaniel College junior Joshua Harding of Federalsburg, Md. performs in "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" at McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, Md. Harding plays the role of last year's spelling bee finalist William “Barfee” . Performances are Wednesday, March 4 - Saturday, March 7, 7:30 p.m., in WMC Alumni Hall.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors, veterans, students, and those with a McDaniel College ID. For tickets, call 410-857-2448.

This quirky one-act show centers on a middle school spelling bee and chronicles the experiences of six adolescents vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime. The show includes improvisation and audience participation.

"The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" is based on an original improvisational play conceived by Rebecca Feldman and performed by The Farm, a New York improvisational comedy troupe. The 2005 Broadway production, directed by James Lapine and produced by David Stone with music and lyrics by William Finn, was nominated for six Tony Awards, winning two, including Best Book.
