Emily M. Reed of Ellicott City, MD, graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology during the 142nd Commencement May 19, 2012, at McDaniel College. More than 320 bachelor's degrees were awarded during the ceremony.

Academic honors given at graduation include Summa Cum Laude for a cumulative grade point average of 3.9 or higher, Magna Cum Laude for a cumulative grade point average of 3.70-3.89, and Cum Laude for a cumulative grade point average of 3.50-3.69.
