Elena Waller of Oakland, Calif. Participates in Improvisational Theatre Performance at McDaniel College

2013 Oct 15

Elena Waller of Oakland, Calif., a senior at McDaniel College, participates in Playback, an interactive theatre performance in which audience members share personal stories that are then acted out by the performers. Free and open to the public, McDaniel's Playback takes place Friday, November 15, and Saturday, November 16, at 7:30 p.m. in WMC Alumni Hall at McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, Md.

Playback theatre is a form of improvisational theatre that can be comedic, serious, dramatic, and cathartic. An audience member is called upon to tell a personal story, chooses actors to play the roles, and then watches as the story is immediately recreated.

Playback has been performed at McDaniel since 2004, and performers are students enrolled in a playback theatre course at the college. Former students in the playback theatre course have gone on to careers in acting, drama therapy, counseling, and education.
