Annual Student Honors Exhibition showcases work by McDaniel College senior Lucia Belivakici of Hanover, Pa.

2015 Mar 11

The student honors exhibition at McDaniel College, Westminster, Md., features a variety of work from nine senior art students, including senior Lucia Belivakici of Hanover, Pa.

Titled "Honorable Discharge," this annual exhibition runs Tuesday, March 24 - Saturday, April 4, in McDaniel's Rice Gallery, Peterson Hall, at 2 College Hill, Westminster, Md. An opening reception takes place Thursday, March 26, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m., with a gallery talk at 6 p.m.

Belivakici is a mixed media artist who grew up in a very religious household, although she no longer affiliates herself with any particular religion.

"I still crave a sense of connection to a greater whole," she said. "My works are an expression and representation of my spiritual journey to become the best version of myself and an exploration of various philosophies on the beginnings of religion."

The exhibition and reception are both free and open to the public. Rice Gallery hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from noon - 4 p.m., Thursday, noon - 8 p.m., and Saturday, noon - 5 p.m. Call 410-857-2595 for more information.
